It just wouldn’t be Victoria without a good, old fashioned union rally! Indeed that was the case on March 6, 2012 when the Province’s teachers and about 10,000 close friends and union brothers and sisters convened on the capital grounds in a showing of solidarity and frustration. I’ll hold my beliefs here as I’m pretty mixed… I really have a hard time supporting the walk-out of what I view an essential service and I’m also a tad put off with students being used as pawns, however, the lack of action on the part of the B.C. Government, their continued pulling of dollars from the EDU budget rather than investing in our future yadayada… I will say that the massive turnout was impressive and you do have to admit that the teachers are frustrated and perhaps rightfully so! Indeed it would be interesting to wonder where Premier Christy Clark was while all this was going down – it really isn’t like her to miss a photo or TV opportunity!
